The Button That Makes People Kinder

The button you created
was one that could affect random people.

Humans sometimes forget what truly matters.

You believed that if people were given even a single trigger—

something that reminded them of what once mattered to them of their purest feelings—

they might reflect on their actions and become just a little more generous.

Humans are already fascinating beings.

You simply hoped they could be a little kinder to one another.

That is why you created a button that makes people kinder.

If random people became just a little kinder today than they were yesterday,

that would benefit humanity as a whole, wouldn’t it?

Strictly speaking,

this button is not a button that guarantees kindness.

Rather,

it is a button that gives a random person a chance to become kinder.

The probability might not be 100%.

This does not only refer to how many people become kinder after pressing the button.

It also refers to how much kinder each individual might become.

Some people may change only slightly.

Others may change much more.

This button might not reform the most vicious criminals.

But it might remind someone

who forgot to call the family they love,

someone too exhausted by work to thank the dog they cherish,

or someone who has forgotten a memory they once held dear—

It might give them a moment to pause to breathe, and to look back.

Yes.

This button is a button

that carries the possibility

that the person who presses it may become kinder.

In *some* way, -

perhaps through spacetime magic,

or highly advanced technology —

you made sure this button could reach random humans.

And when a random human presses it,

one of their childhood memories—

a memory from a child who waited for Santa Claus—

is gently brought back to the surface.

What is the important value that you have forgotten?

And for those who considered sharing this “button” (the game),

I’d like to tell you a small Easter egg story.

The spy—who appeared in the previous game,

the sixth game, A Spy—

was informed that this button was dangerous.

The mission given to the spy was this:

“There is someone planning to create and activate a button

that can affect random people around the world.

To stop their plan, change the password required to press the button,

and get out.”

In short,

the spy—and those who decided to assign the mission to the spy—

misunderstood this “hero.”

In the previous game (the sixth game),

the button is referred to as a “World Domination Button.”

This is because the spy read the mission briefing—

a button that can affect random people—

and interpreted it as a button for world domination.

The spy believes it is a World Domination Button.

The spy thinks, “I like Santa.”

The hero (whom the spy believes to be a villain) thinks,

“I like people who like Santa.”

And the two of them have never met in person—not even once.

Perhaps…

they might become good friends someday.

Thank you for playing.
